Shelter in Place UPDATE

Texas County Emergency Management has recommended people “Shelter in place” during a severe weather advisory.

Shelter-in-place means public shelters are not recommended at this time, but rather each individual should prepare ahead of time by designating a safe room or place that they will seek their own private shelter in. Be prepared and discuss this plan with your family ahead of the storm.

On the advice of the Hardesty Fire Department, the Hardesty city council has determined that the Fire Department storm shelter will be closed, unless a significant threat is imminent.

In the event of an extreme incoming storm, the siren will be sounded and the Fire Department storm shelter will be opened at that time. Masks are strongly recommended.

Again, the storm shelter will not be opened unless the siren has been sounded.

Utility Billing

Due to the COVID-19 State of Emergency in the Town, County, and State, the Hardesty city council has determined that:

  • Late fees will be waived.
  • Water will not be disconnected, per CDC recommendations.
  • Natural gas disconnections will be deferred for a rolling 3-month period per account.

This will remain in effect during the State of Emergency, and all bills will be due at the end of the State of Emergency, at the next 10th of the month. We encourage our customers to pay what they can to prevent their bills from becoming too large.
